List of what men smell like in romance novels

When I was reading like, a toxic amount of romantasy, and it was making me somewhat ill, I kept myself sane by keeping a list of the descriptions of how the men smelled. It’s interesting bc of masculinity — so many scents are off limits, which means you get a lot of similar elements, like cedar and pine and leather and mint. And then things start to get weird, and you’re getting stuff like “damp wood chips.” And whatever it means to smell male. Really interesting gender stuff going on. Basically if you pretend to be an anthropologist you can consume whatever Media you want.

Pls don’t be mad at me for not citing my sources. Many (most?) of these are quotes but I’m too embarrassed to list the books they are from. Academically speaking, this is unacceptable
